During late May through late July 2011, OIT tested a proposed workaround for the bugs described in Android 2.1 - 3.1 Allows DHCP Lease to Expire, Keeps Using IP Address. The test has ended; we found the procedure was effective for 75-80% of the malfunctioning Android devices, and ineffective for the remainder.

If OIT contacted you in the past with an invitation to participate in the test, please see that document to learn how to adopt that partial workaround. If your Android device presently is blocked from using the campus network, contact OIT (only after adopting the partial workaround) to advise us that you have adopted that partial workaround and would like your Android device unblocked.
