To keep pace with the growing demand for IP addresses, the IP network range for OIT Ethernet Service in Eno Hall will change on July 13 2006.
Currently OIT Ethernet Service in Eno Hall is wired to the lifenet campus subnet. The lifenet subnet is wired to several buildings (including Eno Hall), the subnet is numbered 128.112.20.0/22; that is, the IP address range is 128.112.20.0 - 128.112.23.255. The subnet mask is 255.255.252.0, and the broadcast address is 128.112.20.0. The default IP router is 128.112.20.1.
During 6:00 am - 7:00 am July 13 2006, OIT will move OIT Ethernet Service in Eno Hall to the gillnet campus subnet. The gillnet subnet is numbered 128.112.88.0/22; that is, the IP address range is 128.112.88.0 - 128.112.91.255. The subnet mask is 255.255.252.0, and the broadcast address is 128.112.88.0. The default IP router is 128.112.88.1.
OIT Ethernet Service will be interrupted in Eno Hall during 6:00 am - 7:00 am July 13 2006, as the change is being made.
OIT will assign new gillnet IP addresses to the affected devices, replacing their lifenet IP addresses. We will do this by locating all entries in the Princeton University Host Database that are registered specifying a "Building" field of "Eno Hall" on the evening of July 12 2006. For each of these entries, if the entry contains a lifenet IP address, that IP address will be changed to a gillnet IP address. The change will actually take effect during 6:00 am - 7:00 am July 13 2006. Email showing the old and new IP addressses for each affected Host Database entry will be sent on the evening before the change to the entry's Technical Contacts. (Each entry's Departmental Contacts will also receive the mail, if they have elected to receive such mail.)
After the network change is complete at 7:00 am July 13 2006, devices attached to OIT Ethernet Service in Eno Hall will need to change to use their new IP addresses (and a different IP router); until they change, they will be unable to use OIT Ethernet Service. To cause a device to change:
