CIT's Charged Remote Access Service has been upgraded to improve support for Apple Remote Access (ARA) 2.x.
When CIT's current Charged Remote Access Service (phone 806-1000) was announced in Spring 1998, it did not reliably support ARA 2.x. At that time, we established a separate Charged ARA 2.x Service (phone 258-2535) as a workaround.
As of December 8 1998, we believe that the incompatibilities between our Charged Remote Access Service (phone 806-1000) and ARA 2.x have been resolved. We recommend that ARA 2.x customers currently dialing 258-2535 switch to using 806-1000. (We plan to retire the 258-2535 number in the future.) Switching to the new phone number will provide you with access to faster modems; 806-1000 supports speeds up to 56,000 bits per second while 258-2535 is limited to 33,600 bits per second.
