CIT's Remote Access Services now support PPP connections without requiring the client to respond to the traditional comserv prompts. Since this allows clients to connect automatically without the use of a comserv login script, this is known as Unscripted PPP Service.
Existing services continue to function as before; we continue to support the use of the traditional comserv prompts; no existing clients need be reconfigured.
We expect the unscripted service will allow us to simplify new installations of remote access software on client machines. We also expect the unscripted service will allow us to add support for some new versions of client remote access software.
To use Unscripted PPP Service, a PPP client needs to support PAP, the Password Authentication Protocol. Additionally, if you are using IP over PPP, you may not use a Personal IP Address; the new unscripted service only supports dynamic IP addreses. (Nearly all Remote Access customers use dynamic IP addresses.)
More details about Unscripted PPP Service are available in the document: Remote Access: Technical Info for Other Configurations.
